About me

Izzy Keller is a driven and innovative student journalist who specializes in strategic communication and multimedia journalism. She is from Huron, Ohio, a small town near Sandusky, Ohio. Izzy is set to graduate from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism in May 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism on the strategic communication route and minor in political science. She, also, graduated with an Associate of Arts degree from Bowling Green State University: Firelands in May 2020.

Izzy’s journalism career began in 2021, as a staff writer for The New Political, an online political publication run by Ohio University students. She quickly moved up the ranks to become the 2021-2022 assistant digital editor and digital editor, where she restarted the publication’s digital section and assisted with posting social media and PR content. Izzy is the next managing editor of The New Political, managing both the written and digital sections. In this position, she will create a more cohesive relationship between the two sections.

In summer of 2021, Izzy was selected to be The Sandusky Register’s summer news intern. The Register is a daily newspaper covering communities in northern Ohio. In this position, Izzy reported on a variety of issues, events and places that matter to the community. As the Register’s intern, she was able to grow as a reporter and interviewer. When her internship was set to end, the Register offered her a freelancing position to act as their entertainment reporter. Izzy writes a weekly entertainment page that contains three to four stories. She loves it because it allows her to keep in touch with what’s going on at home and keep her journalistic skills sharp.
